1 min read
A Somali national has been shot dead by gunmen in South Africa after coming to the country legally less than two months ago to open a business.
Mohamed Bashey, a Somali national, was closing his shop in Khayelitsha Village, Cape Town, at the time of his killing.
Witnesses told the media that the robbers did not loot the shop but only killed the Somali national, as well as some youths who were with the slain Somali national, who survived the attack.
South African police officers went to the scene of the killing, where they conducted a search operation for the group behind the killing of the Somali national.
In South Africa, young Somali business owners are being killed every year, and so far no one has responded to the killings, either by the Somali or South African governments.
