Suicide bomber strikes intersection leading to State House, Mogadishu

More details are emerging from a suicide bombing at the El-Gabta Intersection near the entrance to the Somali Presidential Palace.

It is being reported that there are dead and wounded civilians and soldiers, as the scene of the blast was a queuing point for vehicles before entering the presidential palace for security checks.

Some passengers and riders of the three wheeler motorcycles who were nearby have also been injured in the blast, according to eyewitnesses.

Security forces and paramedics arrived at the scene, evacuated the injured and extinguished a fire that was set ablaze by the car bomb.

Local media reporters who went to the scene say they saw two dead and four wounded.

This suicide bomb attack comes less than 24 hours after a suicide bomber had detonated himself in front of road leading to the army barracks of Villa Baidoa in Mogadishu.
