Thousands come out to welcome former Somali Presidents to ancient port district

Former Somali presidents Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have today arrived in the ancient district of Adale, on the coast of the Middle Shabelle region in southern Somalia.
Former Presidents Sheikh Sharif and Hassan Sheikh are accompanied by lawmakers, military officials and other local officials, including traditional elders and business community from Middle Shabelle, and will be there for several days, according to various sources.
The president of Hirshabelle region Mr. Ali Gudlawe Hussein and other officials welcomed the delegation led by the former presidents in Adale district.
Thousands of people gathered to welcome the former Presidents in a visit which is said to be in reconciling a recent political differences between sub-clans who hail from the district according to sources who spoke to MTVSomali.com.
Adale is a beautiful white sand coastal district with rich archaeological history and located roughly 84 miles north of the capital, Mogadishu.
Somalia is currently in election period with both houses of parliament elections set to begin in the next few weeks and presidential elections scheduled for October 10th.
