Troops seize control of Hiran region agree to withdraw

Reports from the town of Beledweyne the headquarters of Hiran region say that the so-called “Free Hiran” security forces have agreed to vacate their bases.
The troops made the decision to leave the administration headquarters after a meeting with Hirshabelle Vice President Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Daba-geed, traditional elders and officials leading the forces that recently took over the headquarters of the Hiraan Regional Administration.
A preliminary agreement reached at the meeting included that the troops be allowed to receive their salaries from the government and not be cut off due to the recent takeover of Beledweyne.
However, it was not immediately clear if the agreement would allow HirShabelle President Ali Gudlawe to travel to Beledweyne.
The administration of Hiran region in Hirshabelle, led by the governor Ali Jeyte Osman, the mayor of Beledweyne and other officials of the administration will resume their operations tomorrow.
