UPDATE: Explosion near Halane camp in Mogadishu

More details are emerging from a powerful explosion in Wadajir district of Benadir region, near the entrance to Halane camp where members of the international community reside.
According to our sources, the blast took place at a checkpoint at Halane, also near General Gordon’s base.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast targeted a restaurant near a municipal tax collection point, but it was not immediately clear what the blast was, although preliminary reports said it was a suicide bombing.
Security forces closed all entrances to the blast site and barred the media from entering. Officials who arrived at the scene confirmed that there were heavy casualties in the blast, which targeted soldiers as well as civilians.
The exact number of casualties is not yet known although early indication say that up 10 people were killed, while security officials have not released any information.
