2 min read

Sources within the Somali State House who we have spoken to have told us that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble are currently meeting at the Villa Somalia presidential palace.

The meeting is being attended by all security commanders, including NISA interim director Bashir Goobe, who was appointed by Prime Minister Roble.

The meeting was also attended by the First Deputy Speaker of the Somali Parliament Abdiweli Mudey, and is expected to be joined by Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Mursal Sheikh.

President Farmaajo and Prime Minister Roble are in talks to end a dispute over the dismissal of former NISA director Fahad Yassin.

Sources say the outgoing president has relaxed his stance and is ready to accept Fahad Yassin’s suspension.

The current issue between the two officials is the dismissal of Ikran Tahlil’s case and the cancellation of Roble’s order for the military tribunal to conduct an urgent investigation into the case.

Prime Minister Roble insists that the case of Ikran Tahlil, which led to Fahad Yassin’s dismissal, cannot be stopped, and it is currently impossible to predict what kind of decision the two leader’s will make.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Roble and security commanders, including the new director of NISA, are expected to visit the agency’s headquarters to hand over power to the new director.
