A source within the Somali president’s office has denied that talks between President Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble, which have been embroiled in controversy in recent weeks, have failed.

Earlier reports indicated that efforts to end the rift between President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble had failed.

The effort was spearheaded by Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman and Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoorqoor), as previously reported.

Galmudug State Minister for the Presidency Omar Ahmed Shido has posted on social media that recent efforts to resolve the dispute between the two officials have “failed”.

There has been no official word from the president’s office so far, but a Villa Somalia official told the BBC the talks were still ongoing and he expected a successful outcome.

“We commend the efforts of Chairman Mursal and President Qoorqoor of Galmudug. I am confident that the ongoing efforts will be successful, ”said the official, who did not want to be named.
